William Shakespeare (1564-1616)
(This sonnet
claims that the Dark Lady is more beautiful than the summer’s day and is also
as immortal as Shakespeare’s sonnet.)
The speaker of
the sonnet says that his beloved is more beautiful and moderate than a summer’s
day. The wind blows roughly in May and shakes the small buds off the trees.
Also, the summer ends very fast. Sometimes, the sun shines too bright.
Occasionally, it is dim and blocked by the cloud. And sometimes beautiful
things lose their beauty or become unattractive. But his beloved is always
beautiful and attractive.
The Death will
also not be able to be proud to claim her because of her fame. As long as the
human beings remain on the earth and keep breathing and seeing, the sonnet will
give life (or popularity) to her. She
won’t be forgotten.
