Fear

·         Why does Armando have the idea that everyone in the bank was watching him? What was the truth?
·         What made Gonzalez think that he was going to be robbed?
Ans. Armando was going to carry such a big amount of money (fifty thousand pesos) in his pants’ pocket for the first time in his whole life. Therefore, he was very nervous. He was afraid of being looted. The loud counting of the notes by the bank teller increased his fear. Meanwhile, people around him looked at him. Some of them looked at him twice. In this situation, Armando thought that everyone in the bank was watching him. Actually, people looked at him because he was wearing his cap backwards.

·         Why is Armando afraid of the heavy man on the bus?
Ans. The heavy man looks at him twice in the bank lobby. He goes to talk to the bank teller immediately after she finishes counting Armando’s money, but Armando cannot hear what they talk about. Now, the same man gets on the bus and sits far behind Armando’s seat. He checks his coat pocket in which he might be hiding a pistol. After some minutes, he talks to three young boys who look like his henchmen. Therefore, Armando gets afraid of the heavy man.
